Ce volume rassemble les textes des communications qui ont été présentées au colloque « La Franche-Comté et les anciens Pays-Bas », organisé à Vesoul et à Tournai en octobre 2006, et centré sur les aspects politiques, diplomatiques, religieux et artistiques. Un second volume devrait réunir les actes d’un autre colloque en préparation sur les aspects militaires, démographiques et économiques. Le colloque avait pour objectif d’étudier les liens entre la Franche-Comté et les anciens Pays-Bas, sur une longue durée allant depuis le mariage d’Othon et de Mahaut d’Artois (1285) jusqu’au traité de Nimègue (1678). Vingt-deux communications éclairent de façon très variée les influences et les échanges politiques, diplomatiques, artistiques et religieux, entre les pays « de par-delà » et les pays « de par-deça ». L’ensemble constitué par les résultats de recherches exposées ici renouvelle profondément l’historiographie. Lucien Febvre lui-même n’écrivait-il pas : « Ainsi, c’était un lien fort lâche qui unissait la Comté aux Pays-Bas. Ou plutôt, aucun lien n’unissait ces deux pays ». Tout indique désormais le contraire. This book brings together the papers presented at the symposium "Franche-Comté and the former Netherlands", held in Vesoul and Tournai in October 2006, which focused on political, diplomatic, religious and artistic aspects. A second volume should bring together the proceedings of another symposium currently in preparation, focusing on military, demographic and economic aspects. The aim of the conference was to study the links between Franche-Comté and the former Netherlands over a long period, from the marriage of Otto and Mahaut d'Artois (1285) to the Treaty of Nijmegen (1678). Twenty-two papers provide a wide range of insights into the political, diplomatic, artistic and religious influences and exchanges between the countries 'beyond' and the countries 'beyond'.
