La victoire militaire romaine fut éclipsée par une série de concessions législatives. Le livre aborde le thème de la réconciliation comme stratégie conduite par une partie de la classe politique romaine. Il envisage les remodelages de l’historiographie antique ainsi que les phénomènes de résilience, la capacité à récupérer d’un traumatisme à l’échelle de toute l’Italie. Comment se réconcilier avec ces alliés devenus ennemis, et enfin des concitoyens ? Comment la génération des combattants a-t-elle dépassé ce conflit qui causa un demi-million de morts ? The book refers to a major historical episode of Roman Italy, after which the citizen population was almost tripled. The Roman military victory was overshadowed by a series of legislative concessions. The book considers the theme of reconciliation as a strategy led by part of the Roman political class. It studies the remodelling of ancient historiography as well as the phenomena of resilience, the ability to recover from trauma at an Italian level. How can we reconcile with these allies who became enemies, and finally fellow citizens? How did the generation of combatants overcome this conflict that caused half a million deaths? El libro trata un importante episodio histórico de la Italia romana, después del cual la población ciudadana casi se triplicó. La victoria militar romana fue eclipsada por una serie de concesiones legislativas. El libro aborda el tema de la reconciliación como estrategia dirigida por una parte de la clase política romana. Estudia las remodelaciones de la historiografía antigua así como los fenómenos de resiliencia, la capacidad de recuperación de un trauma a escala de toda Italia. ¿Cómo reconciliarse con esos aliados convertidos en enemigos y, finalmente, en conciudadanos? ¿Cómo superó la generación de combatientes este conflicto que causó medio millón de muertos? |
