S’il s’agit d’un thème de recherches faisant l’objet de continuels renouvellements en géographie et en sociologie urbaine, la question des découpages parisiens reste relativement peu étudiée pour les périodes médiévale et moderne. Qu’elles circonscrivent la ville ou qu’elles la sillonnent, les limites constituent des facteurs essentiels à la compréhension et à l’interprétation des dynamiques urbaines. Étudier la façon dont elles sont vécues et perçues par les citadins permet en outre d’observer les fonctions diverses qu’elles jouent dans la construction des rapports sociaux et dans la territorialisation des pratiques. The recent creation of the metropolis of the Grand Paris, whose area is the same since 1860, encourages to an historial reflexion about the limits of the town, which is at the center of the biggest urban region in Europe since the Middle Ages. |
