| Summary, etc. | L'islam constitue aujourd’hui un objet conflictuel dans le champ politique français. Il serait vecteur de repli sur soi ou l’objet d’instrumentalisations politiques. Pourtant, à distance des discours globalisants présents dans l’espace public et médiatique, ce livre entend démontrer que cette religion peut constituer une ressource dans la mobilisation d’acteurs que tout prédisposait à l’apathie, dans un contexte où la laïcité contraint les formes d’engagement s’appuyant sur l’expérience religieuse. Il vise tout particulièrement à défaire les analyses qui feraient agir la « communauté musulmane » comme un seul et même groupe social homogène. En suivant les acteurs au plus près dans différents quartiers populaires, ce livre restitue les contraintes très fortes qui pèsent sur l’action collective des groupes minoritaires. À rebours d’une lecture qui n’y verrait que des revendications « communautaristes », cet ouvrage démontre que les engagements inspirés de l’islam recherchent avant toute chose l’égalité. Islam is a contentious issue in the French political field. However, avoiding the globalizing frames that prevail in the public sphere, this book shows how islam can embody a resource for the mobilization of actors who rarely do, especially in the French secular context of laïcity. |
