| Summary, etc. | On finit par ne plus savoir pourquoi les entreprises existent : pour produire des biens et services utiles ? pour faire du profit ? pour créer de l'emploi ? pour assurer d’autres missions, mais lesquelles ? Dans les débats contemporains sur l’entreprise et ses responsabilités, la confusion règne. On confond l’entreprise qui produit les biens et les services avec la société juridique dans laquelle se retrouvent les investisseurs. On dit parfois que l’entreprise est un projet collectif, on lui reconnaît bien volontiers un statut de bien commun, mais ces expressions ne dissipent pas le flou et ne font pas consensus. On aimerait que les théories de l’entreprise nous éclairent mais, à proprement parler, il n’en existe pas. Une réponse théorique exigeante est donc à construire pour nourrir la réflexion et éclairer les débats. Nous proposons une théorie de l’entreprise fondée sur le Projet, avec un P majuscule. After all is said and done, we end up not knowing why companies exist: to produce useful goods and services? To make a profit? To create employment? To accomplish other goals (but which ones)? In contemporary debates about the company and its responsibilities, confusion reigns. The company that produces the goods and services is confused with the legal society in which investors find themselves. It is sometimes said that the company is a collective project; it is often said that it's a common good. But these definitions do not do away with vagueness and do not reach a consensus. We would like corporate theories to enlighten us, but, strictly speaking, there are none. A demanding theoretical response is therefore to be built to feed reflection and enlighten debate. We propose a Project-based theory (with a capital P). |
