| Summary, etc. | Si le cirque et le cinéma ont souvent et depuis longtemps été pensés conjointement, ils l’ont davantage été sur le mode de la thématique et de l’incorporation : c’est le cinéma qui s’empare du cirque, s’approprie son « univers », ses personnages, ses histoires, et inversement. Or la fécondité des liens qui unissent les deux pratiques ne peut se borner à un simple « aller sans retour ». Cirque et cinéma ont coexisté et coexistent toujours dans une dynamique d’échanges et de circulations sur laquelle cet ouvrage souhaite revenir. Cette dynamique est impulsée par la notion d’attraction, au centre des neuf études et des témoignages d’artistes qui composent le livre. En effet, l’attraction est tout à la fois une clef et un moteur pour saisir la complexité des relations entre deux pratiques qui, paradoxalement, ont dû se repousser pour exister. Des premiers films Lumière aux dernières productions hollywoodiennes en 3-D, en passant par le cinéma d’avant-garde et l’animation, les auteurs interrogent l’attraction pour tenter d’éclairer sous un jour nouveau les rapports entre ces deux éternels « frères ennemis ». Circus and cinema have often been thought together for a long time, but in terms of themes and incorporation: it is the cinema which seizes the circus to appropriate its universe, its characters, its stories, and vice versa. But the fruitfulness of the links that unite the two practices can not be limited to a one way ticket. Circus and cinema coexisted and still coexist in a dynamics of exchanges and circulations that this book wants to analyze through the notion of attraction. |
