Bouleverser l’ordre politique et social, c’est condamner et rejeter ce qui existe ; c’est aussi, souvent, s’inspirer ou se revendiquer de précédents historiques. C’est cette construction narrative de la Révolution, par ceux qui la font et ceux qui l’observent, pendant et après l’événement, que ce livre entend explorer. Par l’exemple de la Révolution française et des éclairages choisis en Amérique latine (Brésil, Cuba) et en Europe (Espagne, Tchécoslovaquie, URSS), il s’interroge sur la réécriture de l’histoire qui aide à justifier la Révolution. Revolutions are also conducted by words. From the end of the 18th century untill nowadays, Revolutions are a time of rethinking the past. Reinterpreting the political and social order is a way of condemning and rejecting the current system, but also to be inspired and claim historical precedents. This narrative construction of the revolution, by its actors and observers, during and after the event, is at the center of this book. With the example of French Revolution, and studies of Latin America (Brazil, Cuba) and Europe (Spain, Czechoslovakia, USSR), the book wonders about the rewriting of history that is frequently used to justify the revolution. |
