C’est l’impression que peut donner une chronique de l’élection focalisée sur la courbe des intentions de vote ou sur les pourcentages de composition ou de distribution des voix. Pourtant, si le vote demeure fondamentalement une opération de comptage et de décomptage, il ne suffit pas de compter les voix pour comprendre comment les électrices et les électeurs perçoivent l’offre électorale, interprètent ses enjeux et font finalement leur choix. À partir d’une longue enquête réalisée au plus près des citoyens, à la fois qualitative et quantitative, les contributions de ce livre interrogent le poids des trajectoires sociales et des contextes de leur existence sur les façons de voter. Menée tout au long de la séquence électorale de 2017, l’enquête montre la persistance de l’ancrage social du vote face à un désordre inédit de l’offre électorale. Elle propose de renouveler la sociologie des variables sociales qui façonnent les préférences électorales. Is voting just a matter of numbers? This is the impression that can be given by an election chronicle focused on the voting intentions curve or the composition or distribution of the votes. However, if voting remains fundamentally an operation of counting, it is not enough to count the votes in order to understand how voters perceive the electoral offer, interpret its issues and finally make their choice. Based on a lengthy survey conducted in close proximity to citizens, the contributions in this book examine the weight of their social trajectories and their context of existence on their ways of understanding the vote. Deployed throughout the 2017 electoral sequence, the survey shows the persistence of social logics in the making of votes in the face of an unprecedented disorder of the electoral offer. It proposes to renew the sociology of the social variables that shape electoral preferences. |
