| Summary, etc. | Le scepticisme est un courant philosophique au sein duquel le doute n’est ni un malaise à surmonter, ni un artifice situé au commencement d’une enquête visant son propre dépassement, mais une manière de discourir et de se tenir dans l’existence. Qu’implique une telle position sur le plan anthropologique ? Que contrairement à ceux qui ont pensé le doute comme une préparation à la foi ou encore à la refondation de la science, il serait plus naturel de douter que de croire ? Les chapitres de ce volume examinent en quoi le doute sceptique moderne, né de sa mise en œuvre dans les Essais de Montaigne, loin d’être une disposition d’esprit négative qui conduirait au désespoir, a pu contribuer à revaloriser l’opinion et la croyance en régime d’incertitude, à réhabiliter l’imagination et les sens, tout en promouvant d’autres usages de la raison. L’ouvrage s’adresse à tous les lectrices et lecteurs qui s’intéressent au renouvellement par le doute de la conception de la philosophie, qu’il s’agisse de ses pratiques discursives comme de ses valeurs. Il invite aussi à réfléchir sur le lien entre le discours philosophique sur l’homme et les sciences de l’homme, lien que la substitution sceptique d’une anthropologie de la relation à l’approche métaphysique de l’homme a rendu possible.
