| Summary, etc. | La plupart des études d’histoire de la philosophie ayant pris pour thème la reconnaissance ont porté sur une séquence historique qui commence avec Fichte et Hegel. Mais qu’en est-il de la problématique de la construction ou de la confirmation de l’image de soi par autrui avant les auteurs qui en ont fait un objet explicite de réflexion ou en ont proposé des modèles ? À une époque où le principe de la dignité égale de tous n’est pas encore institutionnalisé, peut-on – et en quels termes – poser la question d’une politique ou d’une éthique de la reconnaissance ? Telles sont les questions abordées par les études rassemblées dans ce volume. Une telle démarche archéologique avait jusqu’ici surtout été appliquée à Rousseau. Ce collectif inaugure une recherche de plus grande ampleur qui intéressera aussi bien les spécialistes des auteurs abordés que les étudiants et chercheurs travaillant sur les problématiques de la reconnaissance et soucieux de ressourcer leurs réflexions à ce sujet. Most philosophical research on recognition focuses on the historical sequence that began with Fichte and Hegel. But how was recognition conceptualised in the early modern period? At a time when the principle of equal dignity was not yet institutionalised, can we raise the question of the politics or the ethics of recognition, and, if so, in what terms? Until now, this archaeological approach has mostly been applied to Hobbes and Rousseau. For the first time, this collective work will apply such an approach to other authors and themes. We hope that it will be of interest to specialists in the authors included, as well as to researchers and students interested in the history and philosophy of recognition. |
