| Summary, etc. | Wyprawę kina "w stronę wirtualności" - w stronę nowych sposobów jego tworzenia, rozumienia i egzystencji w czasach przemian technologii medialnych - śledzić będziemy przede wszystkim przez pryzmat wybranych praktyk artystycznych trojga twórców: Petera Greenawaya (wielokrotnie powtarzającego tezę o "śmierci" tradycyjnego kina i o narodzinach nowego sposobów obrazowania), Lynn Hershman Leeson (amerykańskiej artystki "kina rozszerzonego") i Mike’a Figgisa, który w swoich autotematycznych filmach snuł refleksję o różnych rodzajach obrazów filmowych i o kinie epoki cyfrowej. Dyskusję nad kinem wprowadzimy także na szersze obszary refleksji kulturowej. Pytania o "wirtualizację" kultury wymagać będą próby zdefiniowania pojęcia "wirtualności", prześledzenia jego wędrówki przez różne poziomy kulturowych dyskursów i odniesienia go do analizowanych prac. W stronę wirtualności... to książka o kinie (o jego twórcach, dziełach i bohaterach) zanurzonym w technologicznych, filozoficznych, naukowych i, najszerzej, kulturowych przemianach współczesności. We will be following the departure of cinema ‘towards virtuality’ (towards new ways of creating, understanding and existence of cinema in the times of transformations of media technology) primarily from the perspective of selected artistic practices of three artists: Peter Greenaway (who often repeats the argument about the ‘death’ of traditional cinema and the birth of new ways of depiction), Lynn Hershman Leeson (American artist of the ‘wider cinema’) and Mike Figgis, who reflected on various types of cinematic image and the cinema of the digital age in his autothematic films. The authors will also discuss cinema in the wider context of cultural reflection. Questions on the ‘virtualisation’ of culture will require an attempt at defining the notion of ‘virtuality’, and a tracing of its journey through different levels of cultural discourses, as well as linking it back to the analysed works.
