Su carácter de Patrimonio de la Humanidad implica mutaciones y recomposiciones urbanas radicales que condicionan el desarrollo de la urbe en su totalidad, especialmente de su Centro Histórico, y afectan desde la vida cotidiana de sus habitantes hasta los asuntos relacionados con la planificación y las regulaciones urbanas. Esta obra investiga tales aspectos a través de una mirada histórica que arranca en 1908 y culmina en 1996 a la vez que incluye la investigación de campo en la población de nueve barrios considerados arquetípicos. El punto focal de la investigación es la necesidad de comprender los impactos que genera la ciudad patrimonio en las expectativas y percepciones de los habitantes del Centro Histórico de Quito a fin de generar prácticas adecuadas de planificación, rehabilitación y conservación integradas con la vida de sus moradores. |
