| Summary, etc. | La (re)parution dans la Bibliothèque idéale des sciences sociales (Bi2S) de l’ouvrage de Georges Liénard et Émile Servais donne enfin à connaître à la communauté scientifique une enquête injustement méconnue. En effet, s’il a été publié en 1978 en Belgique aux éditions Vie ouvrière, ce livre a peu circulé en France. Il s’agit donc presque d’y donner accès pour la première fois. Issu d’une thèse de sociologie réalisée en binôme, il rend compte de l’une des premières enquêtes sur la socialisation des enfants conduite au domicile des familles de différentes classes sociales. La nouvelle préface de Stéphane Bonnéry, après celle de Jean Remy et Jean-Claude Chamboredon, ainsi que la postface de Georges Liénard, Éric Mangez et Hugues Draelants soulignent son caractère précurseur pour la sociologie de l’éducation et des enfants. Ainsi ce livre décrit les pratiques de socialisation différenciée selon les groupes familiaux de diverses classes sociales, les trajectoires inter et intragénérationnelles dans lesquelles elles s’inscrivent, les représentations que les enfants et leurs familles se font de leur avenir notamment le travail espéré et la position sociale à laquelle ils aspirent. À partir de ces descriptions approfondies, l’analyse sociologique montre comment les pratiques de socialisation différenciée sont à la fois une accoutumance et une intériorisation de la position sociale future.
