Spory o tożsamość dyscypliny, o relacje zawiązywane między teoretycznym wymiarem nauk o kulturze a animacją kulturową oraz projektowym charakterem badania kultury od dwóch dekad nie ustają. Dlaczego zatem uważam, że Praxis i miasto wnosi tutaj świeże spojrzenie? Po pierwsze dlatego, że przeczesując współczesną i klasyczną myśl z zakresu humanistyki oraz nauk społecznych autorka odnajduje niemal zawsze te "sploty" praktyk, właściwej im otwartości oraz heterogeniczności, które przekonują czytelnika, że poznanie ucieleśnione i usytuowane nie tylko jest możliwe, ale i efektywniejsze poznawczo od tekstocentrycznego "poznania abstrahującego". Po drugie dlatego, że analiza klasyków myśli społecznej dokonywana przez Skórzyńską odsłania, ile w pojęciach utartych, takich jak "habitus", kryje się nadal niewyzyskanych innowacji semantycznych projektujących dla nas jako badaczy kultury cele działań i inwestujących w naszą sprawczość. Disputes on the identity of the discipline, on the relationships built between the theoretical aspect of studies on culture and cultural animation, and the project-like character of studying culture, have not ceased for the last two decades. Why do I, therefore, believe that Praxis and the Citybrings a fresh perspective? Firstly, it is because the author, in combing through the modern and classical thought from the field of humanities and social sciences, almost always finds those ‘tangles’ of practice, their characteristic openness and heterogeneity, which persuade the reader that embodied and situated knowledge is not only possible, but also cognitively more effective than text-centric ‘disregarding knowledge’.
